Android to go open source
Google has announced, that they will promote their Android platform through an open source mode. The company is claiming that Android that will go well beyond the mobile-handset market.
Google has released the Android source code hoping to provide the garage tinkerers with a stable operating system that will compete with Windows Mobile and Apple's iPhone on mobile devices.
However, Forbes magazine wrote, Android hasn't been released entirely as an open-source solution.
Apparently Google has released Android under the Apache License if users create Android-based products, they are not required to make those products open source too.
