Microsoft's Windows 7 announced
Microsoft decided to get rid of names such as Windows Vista and Windows XP for its OS. Microsoft will use the codename Windows 7 for its latest operating system.
Previously, Microsoft used code names that connected with the latest product or date like Windows 95 or Windows 98.
Likewise there have been a few events when Microsoft uses the code name of a product for a final release.
Microsoft haven't unveiled the information when Windows 7 will be available to the public, but it is expected to be around 3 years after the Vista release in January 2007.
Microsoft have announced that Windows 7 will be delivered in both consumer and business versions (32 and 64 bit).
